Job fairs and career events are an important component in personnel marketing for many employers. The events offer orientation and a first point of contact, especially for schoolchildren looking for training and students looking for their first job. And now? Due to the corona virus, all job fairs will be canceled for the foreseeable future. The Aachen region is currently working intensively on a digital alternative: the online job fair talentine.

On the Rursee, in the Alps, on the university campus: With their customers, which include regional SMEs as well as corporations, bluebird’s personnel marketing specialists in Aachen usually realize events at very different locations. However, the entire annual calendar was swept away by the corona virus in one fell swoop. “Like many, we had only one thing left to do – rethink and digitize,” bluebird managing director Jörg Pfeiffer reported.

Two pilot events for the Aachen region

New products quickly emerged: online escape game, team building via video conference – and the online job fair talentine. The Aacheners want to start right on their doorstep with two events for the Aachen region: a training fair (June 17) for schoolchildren and young people looking for a training place and a university fair (June 24) for students and graduates * inside.

At talentine, up-and-coming talents and employers come together on an online platform that bluebird realizes together with the IT company Westwerk. Keynote speeches via video stream, one-to-one conversations in video chat and digital workshops are intended to provide orientation and facilitate exchange. “We don’t want to simply transfer the familiar experience at job fairs to digital,” said Jörg Pfeiffer. “There are new opportunities online – we want to use them.”

Online job fair: partners & employers wanted

Supported by partners such as digitalHUB, the city of Aachen and Regina e.V., employers are now being sought who want to test the digital trade fair experience. Regional companies such as aixigo, Ferchau and Soptim as well as the Research Center Jülich, Telekom and the Police of North Rhine-Westphalia are already there.

Jörg Pfeiffer and his team want to attract up to 1,000 young talents with the new offer for each trade fair: “With the online job fair, we hope to help young people orientate themselves in Corona times in order to find a suitable training place or to find a job. ”
